I am currently working on a badly worn Dilkes and Turner Patent Climax door spring. James Dilkes and Edward Turner of Leicester were officially recognised for improvements in door springs Patent dated June 15th, 1853 (no 1453). More to follow as work progresses. As you may well be able to see the Climax had parts missing and some major wear to the collar support, pin and cast iron case The Dilkes and Turner Climax is up and running again with the pin/shoe centering nicely. This floor spring is going to be controlling the door of an old vicarage somewhere in Derbyshire for many years to come now.

AuthorAs there is so little information out there with regard to door closers, especially vintage and antique model floor springs, I thought I would start this blog. Archives
