On the left is the Briton B door closer and on the right is its bigger brother the Briton D. These will be refurbished in the future so look out for the pictures.

hello there!,

nice comparison showing the size difference between the B and the D Britons,

when comes time to getting the D apart, please be careful, springs are not forgiving, and please stay out of line of fire, as they can pack a punch when they snap, and you can be injured or damage can happen to closer or surroundings in the workshop.

be safe and good luck to you when you rebuild these.

Thanks for your comments and concern Jess. Your are right the springs in closers are very powerful and great care should be taken with them. M.F.S would recommend that all repairs to any sort of closer should be carried out by a qualified professional using the correct tools for the job.

As there is so little information out there with regard to door closers, especially vintage and antique model floor springs, I thought I would start this blog.
